At the beginning of this year, I made a list of shocking predictions for the year of our lord, 2018. You can visit these predictions right here.
Holy Shit. That’s right- I’m uncensoring myself, because I am flabbergasted on how much I got right. Join me while I go over my predictions- what I got right, and what I got wrong.
And yes- those predictions have not been altered in any way. I wrote those on that exact date- January 2nd, 2018. I have not gone back and changed them in anyway. Let me shock you with my ability to see into the future? WOOOO WEE WOOO!
But first, everything I got wrong!
EA’s Messing up Star Wars Battlefront II further- Nope. I was wrong on this one. In fact, they actually improved the game- removing lootboxes, adding more maps and heroes, and giving out a ton of content for free. They’re improving! I think…..
Anthem didn’t even come out this year– Yeah. I said it was going to be the most dissapointing game of 2018… but then it got pushed back to 2019. Guess what prediction I have for 2019?
Spiderman being bad– I have no idea why I made this prediction. I guess I was angry at Sony or something. I don’t know. Turns out it was one of the best games of the year. Huh.
No Metroid Prime 4– What the hell, Nintendo? There was nothing- NOTHING- about MP4. They have to have something big planned. I can feel it…
And now for the main event. All the predictions that I actually got right, somehow. Some are surprising. The others- eh, not so much. Let’s see what I got right!
Everything is getting announced!– I made a lot of E3 predictions… and a lot of them actually came true! The biggest ones were the announcements, which I pretty much hit squarely on the head. Here is a list of games I correctly predicted being announced!
- Mario Pary (Super Mario Party)
- Forza Horizon 4
- Halo 6 (Halo Infinite)
- Starfield
- Elder Scrolls 6
- Doom 2 (Doom Eternal)
Resident Evil 2 remake finally revealed!– Called it! I said they would show off the Resident Evil 2 remake, and they did! I also predicted gameplay for Death Stranding as well- I just got the venue wrong (It was revealed at E3, not the Game Awards).
Microtransact This!- Yep. Another year, another dollar- or in this case BILLIONS of dollars! Indeed, companies like Rockstar and Ubisoft raked in a bunch of cash-cows with microtranactions in games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Crew 2, among countless others, including Fallout 76, Metal Gear Survive, and others.
People tried to make Far Cry 5 controversial…. and failed– Ok, so I kinda got this one wrong. I said the game was going to be controversial because of it’s “Christians are the bad guy!” angle. Well, it was “controversial”…. for not being controversial. How people reacted to FC5’s nontroversy is worthy of it’s own analysis, as it showed me how truly awful gaming journalism has become. As for the metacritic- HOLY SHIT……
Multiple Shootings. Multiple Blamings. Parkland. The Madden Tournament Incident. Yep, more tragedies were pinned on gaming. I’m not going to go into detail- these cowards who committed this atrocities should not be celebrated in any way- it’s just sad that video games were a scapegoat once again.
Best of 2018 predicted correctly!- I correctly predicted that Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War, and Dragonball Fighterz would take home top billing. What I didn’t see coming was God of War taking home top honors at the Video Game Awards. Some things I can’t see!
And so was the worst of 2018…. Dynasty Warriors 9. Metal Gear Survive. Sea of Thieves (yes, I heard it’s getting better.) I correctly predicted all of them. Others I didn’t see coming were Fallout 76, The Quiet Man (AKA “No one ordered any chow simulator 2018”) Agony and more.
And I think that’s about it. As you can clearly see, I can tell the future with incredibly accuracy. Now if you excuse me, I have to warn the people of California from making a huge mistake! Oh. No. Sorry, it already happened. Oh well!
